French President Emmanuel Macron's Statue Worth Rs 39 Lakh 'Stolen' From Paris Museum: Video

A wax statue of French President Emmanuel Macron was stolen from a Paris museum on Monday.

The incident unfolded after Greenpeace activists stole the wax figure of President Macron from the Grevin Museum and placed it in front of the Russian embassy as part of a pro-Ukraine protest.

According to a report in AFP, two women and a man entered the museum posing as tourists and after entering the premise changed their clothes to pass for workers.

The activists then slipped out of the museum through an emergency exit with the 40,000-euro-statue (Rs 39 lakh), covered with a blanket.

The activist then placed the figure in front of the Russian embassy in a stunt meant to urge France to stop gas and fertiliser imports from Russia.

The stunt was aimed at drawing attention to what activists called Macron's "double game" on Ukraine. 

"For us, France is playing a double game," Jean-Francois Julliard, head of Greenpeace France, said.

"Emmanuel Macron embodies this double discourse: he supports Ukraine but encourages French companies to continue trading with Russia," he said.

The Greenpeace activist targeted Macron demanding that the French president "should be the first" among European leaders to end trade contracts with Russia.

France has been one of the most vocal supporters of Ukraine since Russia started the war Ukraine in February 2022.
