Trump Vs Harris: Donald Trump Gets Fact-Checked As He Claims 'Babies Can Be Executed' During Abortion Rights Debate

During a heated debate, Donald Trump slammed the Democratic Party's abortion policies while Kamala Harris highlighted his "lies" on abortion.

The much-awaited presidential debate between candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris was held on Wednesday with an intense discussion on abortion rights, economy, and border issues. Discussing one of the most important issues for the voters in the US, abortion rights, Kamala Harris claimed that Donald Trump would ban abortion and would make no exceptions for even "rapes and incest". Former President Donald Trump hit back saying that the Democrats are "radical" on the abortion issue.

"In over 20 years, there are trump abortion bans. They don't make exceptions even in rape and incest...if Trump becomes president, he will sign the national abortion ban," Harris was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Donald Trump said Harris's pick for the vice-president, Tim Walz, in particular, has advocated for abortion in the ninth month. During the debate, Trump claimed that both Republicans and Democrats backed the US Supreme Court decision of 2022 that scrapped Constitutional protection for abortion. However, this was a false claim and he was soon fact-checked. Kamala Harris's Democratic Party has always supported abortion rights under the Constitution.

US Vice-President Kamala Harris pointed out that Trump appointed three of the Supreme Court justices that overturned the national right to abortion two years ago.

Trump also reiterated his old claim that babies can be "executed" after birth. However, he was quickly fact-checked by the ABC News debate moderator: "There is no state in this country, where it is legal to kill a baby after it's born." To this, Harris said: "As I said, you are going to hear a bunch of lies and it's not surprising."

US Presidential Debate On Economy

The debate, which began with a handshake by the two leaders, opened with a question on the economy with Harris going responding first saying she plans to build an "opportunity economy". She alleged that Trump would give "tax cuts for billionaires and corporations".

In response, Trump vowed to place tariffs on other countries. Mentioning China, he said that the government has taken in "billions" from the country with tariffs that have remained in place, even after he left office.
