Who Is Mohamed Sabry Soliman? Colorado Firebomb Suspect Who Shouted 'Free Palestine'

Sabry yelled "Free Palestine" as he threw a makeshift firebomb on a group of people who gathered to raise attention for Israeli hostages in Gaza.

Six people were injured with burn injuries in Colorado after a man threw a firebomb at a group gathered to raise attention for Israeli hostages in Gaza, according to law enforcement officials on Sunday.

The suspect was identified as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45 and is likely to face charges in connection with the attack that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is probing as a terrorist act.

Sabry carried out the act at the popular Pearl Street pedestrian mall yelling "Free Palestine". The incident comes barely a week after a man who also yelled "Free Palestine" was charged with fatally shooting two Israeli embassy staffers outside a Jewish museum in Washington.

The six injured persons were between the ages of 67 and 88, the police said, adding their injuries range from minor to "very serious". Four were taken to hospital, while two had to be airlifted to a hospital in Aurora.

Who Is Mohamed Sabry Soliman?

According to the FBI, Soliman is an Egyptian national who is in the United States illegally after overstaying his visa.

Soliman was denied a visa in 2005 to enter the United States, according to CNN. It is, however, unclear when or how the suspect entered the country.

The Boulder police are yet to provide further details about the suspect and officially ascertain the motive behind the attack.

Authorities believe Soliman acted alone and that no other suspect was being sought. No criminal charges have been immediately announced but officials said they would move to hold Soliman accountable. He was also injured and was taken to the hospital to be treated, but authorities did not elaborate on the nature of his injuries.

Mark Michalek, an FBI special agent said it was clear that it was a "targeted act of violence" but added there was no evidence that the man was connected to a wider group.
