Britain: Special Royal Windsor Horse Show To Mark Queen Elizabeth’s 70 Years On Throne
‘Platinum Jubilee Celebration: A Gallop Through History’ will see hundreds of horses and 1,000 performers putting up a special show over 4 days
New Delhi: Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in the history of Britain, will mark her 70th anniversary on the throne in 2022, and the United Kingdom is planning celerations throughout the year.
As part of the platinum jubilee celebration, the 2022 Royal Windsor Horse Show will have hundreds of horses and 1,000 performers in a special display from May 12-15, news agency Reuters reported.
It will be a 90-minute military, musical and equestrian show held over the four days on the grounds of Windsor Castle, and will end with a live-broadcast finale before the Queen, a known horse lover.
The event, ‘Platinum Jubilee Celebration: A Gallop Through History’, will also involve more than 10 countries the queen has toured on state visits, the report said.
Tickets for the show are on sale from Wednesday.
"We are going to be telling a story not just of the Queen and her 70 years, but the whole history from Queen Elizabeth, the first era to now," Simon Brooks-Ward, director and producer of Platinum Jubilee Celebration, said in an interview at Buckingham Palace during a media launch on Tuesday, according to the Reuters report.
Over 500 horses and a thousand actors, artists and others will take part in “dancing, music and displays”, he said.
Proceeds from the Windsor Castle celebration will go to charity.
Elizabeth ascended the throne on February 6, 1952, after the death of King George VI, her father.
Other celebrations across the UK next year will include a special weekend of events in June, the report said.
