2 Planes Collide On Ground At Tokyo's Haneda Airport, No Injuries But 1 Runway Shut: Report

Two passenger planes have reportedly collided on the ground at Tokyo's Haneda airport, however, no injuries have been reported.

One runway has been shut and some flights have been delayed after two planes collided on the ground at Tokyo's Hanada airport, Reuters reported quoting public broadcaster NHK, citing Japan's transport ministry. Local media said no injuries occurred as the planes came in contact but one of the four runways had to be shut due to the incident. A footage of the collision shared by the broadcaster showed jets from Taiwan's Eva Airways (2618.TW) and Thai Airways (THAI.BK) on the ground. Part of the wing of the Thai Airways plane looked to be broken and fragments could be seen near the runway.

Thai Airways told Reuters that its Bangkok-bound flight was on a taxiway preparing for takeoff when a winglet - a part at the tip of its plane's right wing - collided with the rear of an Eva aircraft that was also on a taxiway.

Thai airplane's winglet was damaged in the collision and the flight was not able to operate, the airline told the news agency. The Airbus (AIR.PA) A330 aircraft carried 250 passengers and 14 crew members. Eva was not available for comment immediately, Reuters said.

In another incident, police arrested a male passenger travelling on a Mumbai-bound Vistara flight at Delhi airport following a complaint by a co-passenger. The female passenger on the flight complained that she heard the man talk about a bomb over the phone, as reported by the news agency ANI. The man was later identified as Azeem Khan of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh.

After the woman raised a complaint to the crew members, the accused was apprehended by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and was later arrested by Delhi Police. However, the police after investigation issued a notice and allowed the accused to go as nothing suspicious was found on him, reported news agency ANI.
