Blast At Funeral Of Assassinated Afghan Governor Kills 15, Over 50 Injured: Report

At least 15 people were killed while 50 others were injured in a blast in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province on Thursday during the funeral ceremony of an assassinated governor. The blast took place in Badakhshan province’s capital Faizabad, Mazuddin Ahmadi, the head of the information and culture department of the province told TOLOnews. While Ahmadi did not disclose the exact number of casualties, 15 dead bodies and 50 wounded people arrived in a provincial hospital, reported TOLOnews quoting a source from the hospital as saying.
As per the report, locals said that the blast took place inside the Nabawi mosque in the Hesa-e-Awal area of Faizabad.
The blast also killed the former commander of Baghlan police, Safiullah Samim during the funeral of the former deputy governor of Badakhshan province Mawlawi Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, Mazuddin told the Afghan news outlet.

Former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai condemned the Thursday attacks and expressed his sympathy for the affected families. He termed the attack as a “terrorist act” and an “act against all human and Islamic values.”
Iran foreign ministry spokesperson also condemned the attack.
