A man in Jalandhar got stuck in a 70-foot-deep borewell. A rescue operation has been launched to save him.

A worker in Punjab's Jalandhar got stuck in a 70-foot-deep borewell on Saturday evening near Kartarpur when two workers were in the borewell to free some part of the boring machine that got stuck underneath. One of the workers came out of the borewell but, another worker named Suresh got stuck after sand fell on him. A rescue operation into the matter was launched by the district administration and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), reported PTI.

The borewell was dug up to erect a pillar as a part of the Delhi-Katra Expressway project.

An incident of similar nature occurred last month when a three-year-old kid fell into a borewell in Kul village of Bihar's Nalanda. According to officials, the child was identified as Shivam Kumar. A rescue operation was launched into the matter that lasted about five hours. The operation required meticulous planning and dedicated teamwork. An officer with the NDRF, Ranjeet Kumar, told the news agency ANI that the rescued child was in good health.

"The child is fine and has been rescued. He has been sent to the hospital. It took us around 5 hours to rescue him," Kumar said.

In another such incident last month, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl fell into a borewell in

Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha district. Unfortunately, the minor did not survive. The girl was identified as Asmita. After her rescue, she was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but couldn't make it.
