Raipur: In a bizarre incident, Raipur Municipal Corporation Mayor Ajaz Dhebar’s nephew Shoaib Dhebar was seen misbehaving with the police personnel when asked to wear a mask as part of the Covid-19 guidelines put in place in the wake of the unprecedented surge in infections.
In the video widely shared on social media, the mayor’s nephew is seen riding on a scooter with someone behind wearing a mask before stopped by the cops. When asked by the cops as to why he was for not wearing a mask, the mayor’s nephew began quarreling with them.
The mayor’s nephew asked the cops on duty to talk slowly before him and when the police warned him that his license would be suspended, he took out his cell phone stating that he would seek an apology from them for their behaviour.
The mayor’s nephew later paid a challan of Rs 500.
The mayor, however, later in a statement on Twitter said that his nephew has been warned not to commit such behaviour again while asserting the law is equal for all.
“The law is the same for everyone, be it my relative or the Prime Minister. Shoaib Dhebar has been challaned for his mistake. He has been warned not to commit such mistake again. In these circumstances, the cooperation and respect of our corona warriors is necessary,” the mayor posted on the micro-blogging platform in Hindi.
