Punjab Govt Imposes Night Curfew Across State From Dec 1, Doubles Fine For Flouting Covid-19 Norms
With increasing Covid-19 cases, the Punjab government has ordered a night curfew from December 1. Fine for not following Covdi-19 precautions have also been increased.
New Delhi: Amid rising coronavirus cases, the Punjab government has imposed a night curfew across the state from December 1. The curfew will be in place from 10 pm to 5 am. According to the government order, all hotels, restaurants, marriage palaces will have to shut down by 9.30 pm.
The Captain Amarinder Singh government has also raised the fine for flouting Covid-19 protocols such as not wearing masks or keeping social distance to Rs 1000. The curbs will be reviewed on December 15 and a further decision will be taken depending on the situation.

On Sunday, the Union Government has decided to depute high-level Central Teams to Punjab along with other states such as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to support the COVID response and management. hree-member teams will visit the districts reporting high number of COVID cases and support the State efforts towards strengthening containment, surveillance, testing, infection prevention and control measures, and efficient clinical management of the positive cases. The Central teams shall also guide in effectively managing the challenges related to timely diagnosis and follow up.
On Wednesday, India's total cases rose to 92,22,217 with 44,376 fresh Covid-19 infections. Meanwhile, 481 people died in last one day taking the toll to 1,34,699. Currently, there are 4,44,746 active cases in the country.
Punjab has become the sixth state to impose a night curfew due to the resurgence in Covid-19 cases after Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
