PM Modi To Unveil 30-Foot Statue Of Freedom Fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju In Bhimavaram On July 4
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch the year-long 125th birth anniversary celebration of the legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.
Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bhimavaram town in Andhra Pradesh on July 4 and unveil a 30-feet statue of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju as part of the government's Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the government was committed to giving due recognition to the contribution of freedom fighters.
As part of the endeavour, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch the year-long 125th birth anniversary celebration of the legendary freedom fighter, Alluri Sitarama Raju, in Bhimavaram. The Prime Minister will unveil a 30-ft bronze statue in Bhimavaram Park and address a public meeting.

The government has planned a series of initiatives for the year-long celebration. As part of this, the government approved the Alluri Dhyana Mandir building at Mogallu that will include Alluri Sitarama Raju's monument in the Dhyana Mudra, depicting the life of the freedom fighter through interactive systems powered by artificial intelligence (AI), and mural paintings.
Alluri Sitarama Raju was born on 4th July 1897. Legendary freedom fighter Sitarama Raju inspired the Eastern Ghats tribes to rise up in protest against British tyranny. From August 1922 to May 1924, the Rampa rebellion, which he led with unmatched bravery and valour, was one of the most severe uprisings to have opposed colonial rule in the subcontinent.The local people refer to him as “Manyam Veerudu” (Hero of the Jungles).

The Prime Minister will reach Vijayawada airport at Gannavaram by a special flight from Hyderabad and fly by helicopter to Bhimavaram in West Godavari district.
