Court Directs Police Probe After Man Claims Social Media Hacking Through Microchip In Body

A court in Mumbai ordered the police to probe into the claim by a man who said all his social media accounts were hacked by placing microchip in his body.

A man in Mumbai who said that all his social media accounts were hacked by unidentified person claimed that the hacker did so by placing a microchip in his body after which a magistrate court in Mumbai directed the police to probe the complaint. 

Sachin Sonawane, who said that all of his social media accounts were hacked claimed that he had doubts that the hacker had bugged him by putting some microchip in his body, as per a PTI report. 

He also claimed that the hacker managed to log into his accounts, including his new Gmail account, despite taking all precautions like changing passwords.

In a complaint filed through his advocate Prakash Salsingikar, Sonawane said this has caused him a lot of harm. 

As per the report, the complaint claimed that some "unidentified person is using the microchip to increase his heart rate on multiple occasions and, therefore, his life is in danger." 

After going through the application and affidavit filed by Sonawane, the the court said, prima facie, it appears there is disclosure of offences under Information Technology Act and section 420 (cheating) of Indian Penal Code.

It also said that in such circumstances, it is necessary to have a detailed probe into the matter through police specially appointed for cyber crime.

Therefore, Borivali Metropolitan Magistrate B N Chikne directed the Charkop police in the city last month to register a first information report (FIR) and conduct an investigation, as per the report, adding that the order was made available on Monday. 

The court has asked the police to submit the final report as early as possible. It also directed that the documents pertaining to the complaint must be forwarded to Cyber Crime under the Charkop police station for necessary action.
