Mandatory ‘Monsoon Kit’ Fitment Announced For KTM 390 Duke

KTM has requested owners of the 2017-18 KTM Duke 390 to visit their nearest dealerships for a ‘Monsoon Kit’ fitment as part of a silent recall. The Austrian bike manufacturer says it will replace certain faulty components which will rectify the various issues reported by owners of the second-gen 390 Duke, which was launched in 2017.

The ‘Monsoon Kit’ will include the installation of a new ECU bracket which will protect it from water, dust and other elements. Additionally, the redesigned pillion seat brackets will replace the existing ones, which in turn will increase the gap between the seat and tail light. The older setup led to the cracking of the tail light when a heavy pillion was onboard. Other major issues reported by customers like headlight vibrations and LED’s malfunctioning randomly will also be rectified under the recall.

Even though the KTM 390 Duke has impressed everyone with its features and performance figures at an affordable price point, it has faced a number of quality issues over time. Over the last few months, KTM has rolled out a number of fixes and updates to resolve these issues, one of which even included completely redesigning the radiator for better heat management.

Powering the KTM Duke 390 is a 373cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 44PS of power at 9000rpm and 37Nm of torque at 7000rpm. A 6-speed gearbox transfers power to the rear wheel via chain drive.

Over the years, the KTM 390 Duke has been a tremendous success for the bike manufacturer. The naked streetfighter received a major overhaul in 2017 and the latest iteration received several new features like an LED headlamp, a TFT instrument cluster, multiple ABS modes, a new instrument cluster and ride-by-wire technology.
