'Covid-19 Vaccine Booking For Rs 500' FAKE! Madhya Pradesh Police Issues Alert Against Fraud Calls

Madhya Pradesh police warned public not to fall prey to mobile phone calls or messages asking to pay Rs 500 to book vaccine dose for themselves.

While the Coronavirus vaccine has not even arrived in the country, fraudsters have begun to loot game fooling citizens to get themselves registered to receive the Covid019 drug in the first phase. Taking cognizance of the fraud calls being made to the citizens, the Madhya Pradesh police warned public not to fall prey to mobile phone calls or messages asking to pay Rs 500 to book vaccine dose for themselves. Speaking to the media, Rajat Saklecha, Additional Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime said that caller claims to be from the ministry of health and urge people to sign up by downloading an app or through a shared OTP. The official explained that it is an attempt by cyber fraudsters to get confidential information and siphon off money from bank accounts. "The fraudsters seek information such as Aadhaar number on the pretext of 'pre-registration for vaccine' and then ask for an OTP through which they withdraw money from the person's Internet-linked bank account." The cyber crime officer said that the authorities are creating awareness among people and asking them not to share any personal information. People should not attend any phone call or click on a link (in a text message) offering coronavirus vaccine," Rajat Saklecha said. The awareness drive came after a student who received one such call informed the cyber wing. Taking cognizance of the situations, an advisory warning about this racket was issued.
