According to the report, Pazhoor panchayat officials said that the deceased’s mother, father, and uncle were admitted to Kozhikode medical college hospital after they were found to be symptomatic.

Meanwhile, the state health minister Veena George rushed to Kozhikode to coordinate the efforts taken to contain the spread of the infection. According to a report in IANS, the minister said that they have been working on identifying the source of the outbreak and do the contact tracing.

The minister, according to the report, said that they had identified 188 contacts of the deceased and the contact tracing process was being continued. “A goat which died some time back at the house of the deceased has nothing to do with Nipah virus,” the minister said.

The report said that another team from the National Institute of Virology in Pune is expected to reach the district later on Monday.
