Kerala Health Department Releases Route Map Of Nipah Victim

The route map shows the movement of the deceased from August 27. The victim started witnessing fever on August 29 and was taken to multiple hospitals.

Chennai: The Kerala Health Department has released the route map of the 12-year-old boy who died due to Nipah Virus infection in Kozhikode district on Sunday. The route map shows the movement of the deceased from August 27. 

According to a report in The News Minute, the route map shows that the body was playing with his friends in the neighbourhood of Pazhoor village on August 27. He stayed at home the next day and on August 29, he met a private doctor at his clinic at Eranjimavu at 8:30 am after suffering from fever. He travelled by auto. On August 30, the deceased was at home and the next day, he was taken to a private hospital in Mukkam by auto at 10 am and then to another hospital in Omassery at 12 pm before being admitted to Kozhikode government medical college hospital by ambulance by 1 pm. On September 1, he was taken to MIMS hospital in Kozhikode district by ambulance.

According to the report, Pazhoor panchayat officials said that the deceased’s mother, father, and uncle were admitted to Kozhikode medical college hospital after they were found to be symptomatic. 

Meanwhile, the state health minister Veena George rushed to Kozhikode to coordinate the efforts taken to contain the spread of the infection. According to a report in IANS, the minister said that they have been working on identifying the source of the outbreak and do the contact tracing.

The minister, according to the report, said that they had identified 188 contacts of the deceased and the contact tracing process was being continued. “A goat which died some time back at the house of the deceased has nothing to do with Nipah virus,” the minister said. 

The report said that another team from the National Institute of Virology in Pune is expected to reach the district later on Monday.
