Indian National Killed In Nepal Police Firing At Border, Two Missing

The police is trying to ascertain the facts of the incident by trying to contact the man who returned to India

In the latest incident, an Indian national has been allegedly killed in a firing by Nepal Police after three youths, who had gone to the country on a visit engaged in a scuffle with the forces. As per the information shared by Jai Prakash Yadav, Superintendent of Police, Pilibhit, the region where the incident took place borders the country in Uttar Pradesh.

The three belonged to the Hajaara area of Pilibhit, who crossed to the Nepal side following which there was a confrontation with the Nepal Police. According to Yadav one of the three died in police firing, one of them fled to the Indian side and the third person is still missing. The police are trying to ascertain the facts of the incident by trying to contact the man who returned to India, Yadav added. As soon as the information came to the fore, Pilibhit police were deployed at the border.  The name of the deceased is Govinda. The other two persons are Pappu Singh and Gurmed Singh.

Last year, in an unprecedented incident of firing on Indians by the Nepal Armed Police Force, one person had died while three people suffered injuries. Following the incident, India has taken up the matter with the Nepal government. The firing incident came amid tension between India and Nepal after Kathmandu passed an amendment to include in the constitution a new map that showed Indian areas of Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limpiyadhura as part of its territory.

In fact, the family of Indian citizen Lagan Kishore was detained in Nepal, but they returned to their hometown after being freed.
