'Will Resolve The Matter': Punjab CM Dials Navjot Singh Sidhu As His Resignation Triggers Crisis

The Punjab CM said that he spoke to Navjot Sidhu over the phone as "family problems are solved when all members sit and talk to each other."

New Delhi: Punjab Congress is witnessing political turmoil after Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as state Congress chief. While the party high command has maintained silence on the sudden turn of even, Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi has reacted to Sidhu's decision.

While holding a press conference after a state cabinet meet Channi answered questions about Navjot Singh Sidhu. The Chief Minister admitted that Sidhu's resignation has caused a sudden crisis in the state but they are trying to resolve the matter. The Punjab CM said, "I'll sit down and talk and resolve the matter."

 He further added that he spoke to Sidhu over the phone as "family problems are solved when all members sit and talk to each other". Reiterating that the party and its ideology are supreme he said that he is ready to discuss if any mistake has been made. Clarifying that there have been no attempts made to harm the party, he further said that he wants to sit and talk and settle the matter.

Electricity Bill Waiver Announced

The Punjab CM also made huge announcements for the people of Punjab. Channi said that the state government will pay the outstanding electricity bills for poor consumers with under 2 kW consumption and their connections will be restored. The Chief Minister further said, "Two rounds of meetings have been held on the issue of the electricity bill. Many people are living without electricity. Some people have got their connection disconnected due to unpaid bills. Connections were cut due to non-payment of electricity bills of 55000 to 1 lakh people in the state." He said the current (September) bill will not be waived. The Punjab government will pay the outstanding dues till August.

Sidhu says he will fight for the truth till the last breath

Sidhu issued a statement on Twitter that he will fight for the truth until his last breath. Sidhu said in his video message, " My objective in politics is to improve the lives of people in Punjab, to make a difference, and to stand firm on my objectives. It is not a personal battle but a fight for principles. I can't misguide high command nor can I let them be misguided. I will make any sacrifice to stand by principles, to improve the lives of the people of Punjab. I don't need to think much for it."

Sidhu said, "I see those who gave a clean chit to Badals six years back. Such people have been given the responsibility of delivering justice. The system cannot be changed by bringing such people. These people had provided security cover to drug traffickers. Such people cannot be appointed.''  He added that he will fight even if it means losing his position. In his own unique style, Sidhu said, "Usulon par aanch aaye toh takrana zaroori hai, zinda ho toh zinda nazar aana zaroori hai."
