Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Tejasvi Surya, who represents Bengaluru South, tied the knot with Carnatic vocalist Sivasri Skandaprasad in a grand traditional wedding on March 6. The ceremony, held in Karnataka, brought together two distinguished personalities from the realms of politics and classical arts.

The couple, dressed in elegant traditional attire, got married in the presence of family, close friends and political dignitaries. Sivasri gracefully donned a yellow Kanchipuram silk saree, accessorized with exquisite gold jewelry, while Tejasvi Surya opted for a silk ethnic ensemble, reflecting the rich cultural essence of the occasion.

Star Studded Affair

The celebrations continued with a grand reception at Gayatri Vihar, Bengaluru, which saw the attendance of several prominent BJP leaders and dignitaries. Among them were Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai, MP Pratap Simha and BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malaviya, along with Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra and Union Minister V Somanna.

Several leaders shared glimpses of the event on social media, extending their best wishes to the newlyweds.

Who is Sivasri Skandaprasad?

Hailing from a musically rich lineage, Sivasri Skandaprasad is a gifted Carnatic vocalist, Bharatanatyam dancer, and visual artist. Born on August 1, 1996, she is the daughter of Seerkazhi Skandaprasad, a noted mridangam maestro.

She reportedly started to learn Bharatanatyam from the age of 3. 

Trained under Guru AS Murali, she has performed at prestigious Sabhas such as Brahma Gana Sabha and Kartik Fine Arts, as per a report on The Hindustan Times. She also made a mark in cinema by lending her voice to a song in Mani Ratnam’s historical epic Ponniyin Selvan.

Academically, Sivasri has a bioengineering degree from SASTRA University. She holds a master’s in Bharatanatyam from the University of Madras and MA in Sanskrit from The Madras Sanskrit College. She also holds a diploma in Ayurvedic cosmetology, reflecting her diverse talents.
