'Where Will The Dog Go?' Netizens Ask After IAS Couple Transferred Over Delhi Stadium Controversy
The Union Home Ministry in an order said Khirwar is shifted to Ladakh and his wife to Arunachal Pradesh with immediate effect.
New Delhi: With the Central government shunting out Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Sanjeev Khirwar, who allegedly cleared a Delhi stadium to walk his dog, and his wife Rinku Dugga, also a bureaucrat, Twitter has been bombarded with funny jokes and memes. This decision by the Union Home Ministry came after it was claimed that athletes at the Thyagraj Stadium were being forced to finish their training early so that Khirwar could bring his dog to the facility for daily evening walk.
The Union Home Ministry in an order said Khirwar is shifted to Ladakh and his wife to Arunachal Pradesh with immediate effect.
“Where Will The Dog Go,” tweeted one user.
“Agar ye bhi IAS officer ka kutta hota to iski k liye bhi park Khali karaya jata,” another user tweeted.
“Delhi IAS couple transferred after the Delhi stadium dog walk story, Huby to Leh, wifey to AP But Where Will The Dog Go,” wrote another on the micro-blogging platform.
Another user while expressing concern for the dog asked PETA India to interfere in this matter on an urgent basis.
“Bahut bura hua kutte ke sath. Where Will The Dog Go @PetaIndia must interfere in this matter on urgent basis,” he tweeted.
The MHA took the action soon after Delhi Chief Secretary submitted a report to it in the evening on the factual position of the news report.
“The MHA had sought a report from Chief Secretary, Delhi on the news report regarding the misuse of facilities at Thyagraj Stadium by Sanjeev Khirwar and his wife Rinku Dugga. Chief Secretary, Delhi submitted a report later in the evening on the factual position to MHA. In the meanwhile, Khirwar has been transferred by MHA to Ladakh and Dhugga to Arunachal Pradesh. Necessary action will be initiated based on the report,” ANI reported sources in the MHA as saying.
Khirwar, a 1994-batch IAS officer from AGMUT cadre, was posted in Delhi as the Principal Secretary (Revenue) and the Divisional Commissioner.
He also held additional charge of the Environment Secretary in the Delhi government.
Khirwar served as the Private Secretary to the Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath between 2009 and 2014. He was then posted in the Commerce ministry and was transferred to Delhi in 2018 as the Secretary, of Health and Family Welfare.
Over the past few years, he has been posted in the environment, general administration and revenue departments.
