'What Sort Of Love Is This...': Smriti Irani's Jibe At Rahul Gandhi's 'Mohabbat Ki Dukan' Remark
Notably, Rahul Gandhi held an event in California’s Santa Clara during his 10-day visit to the United States last month namely ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’.
Union minister Smriti Irani on Thursday came down heavily on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his ‘mohabbat ki dukan’ remark. Irani used the remark to target Gandhi saying when you talk about mohabbat (love) does that include killing of Sikhs, kidnapping of women in Rajasthan, and denouncing the Hindu way of life. The Congress leader has been accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre of spreading hate. During his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Gandhi had said, “nafrat ki iss bazar mein mohabbat ki dukaan khol raha hun.” (I am opening shops of love in this bazaar of hatred)
Targeting Gandhi for this remark, Irani said, "...When you talk about 'Mohabbat', does that include the killing of Sikhs? When you talk about 'Mohabbat', does that include the kidnapping of women in Rajasthan? When you talk about 'Mohabbat', does that include denouncing the Hindu way of life?”

“When you talk about 'Mohabbat', does it mean partnering with those who want to bring India to a standstill? When you talk about 'Mohabbat', does that 'Mohabbat' compel you to go seek outside intervention against your own democracy. Ye kaisa ishq hai jo desh se nahi apne political siyasat se hai (what sort of love is this which is not for the country but for your own politics)?" she said further.

During the event, the former Lok Sabha MP lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh accusing BJP of threatening people and misusing government agencies.
Taking a jibe at the saffron party, Gandhi said that these people are “absolutely convinced” that they know everything and can explain history to historians, science to scientists and warfare to the army.
