Weather Update: Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions is likely to continue over northwest India till January 18.

Weather Update: Cold to severe cold wave conditions are expected to persist throughout northwest India till January 18. Minimum temperatures are expected to fall by roughly two degrees Celsius in several regions of northwest and central India till January 17, followed by a steady increase of three to five degrees Celsius between January 18 and 20.

Minimum temperatures are expected to decline by around 2°C in several regions of Northwest and Central India till the 17th of January, then gradually climb by 3-5°C from the 18th to the 20th. Minimum temperatures are expected to fall by 2-3°C over East India until January 17th, then gradually climb by 2-3°C from January 18th to January 20th. Minimum temperatures are unlikely to alter significantly throughout Gujarat state before the 17th, but will climb by 2-3°C following, the IMD (India Meteorological Department) said.

Meanwhile, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are expected in several regions of Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana, as well as Chandigarh and Delhi, through January 17, with isolated pockets on January 18.

Cold wave conditions are also quite possible across Himachal Pradesh between January 16 and 18, as well as over West Madhya Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday; East Madhya Pradesh on January 17, and Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, and Rajasthan on January 19.

Ground frost is expected in isolated areas across Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan till January 18. On January 15 and 16, a strong surface wind of 15-20 kmph is expected to blow through several sections of northwest India's plains.

Meanwhile, severe fog is expected in isolated areas over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, north Rajasthan, and north Uttar Pradesh until January 17. During the following five days, similar meteorological conditions will dominate across Bihar, Assam, and Meghalaya, as well as over West Bengal and Sikkim between January 15 and 17; and over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha on January 16 and 17.
