Weather Update: Delhi Continues To Reel Under Heatwave With Maximum Temperature At 47.3 Degree Celsius

Heatwave condition over northwest India is expected to remain for next four to five days while there will be no significant change in temperature over Central India for next two days.

New Delhi: The national capital had no respite from heatwave conditions as the maximum temperature recorded in the city was at 47.3 degree Celsius on Sunday as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). According to the MeT department, highest temperature of 47.3 degree Celsius in the city was logged at Mungeshpur. 

Other areas of the city too witnessed mercury crossing the 45 degree Celsius-mark as 45.1 degree Celsius was recorded at Jafarpur, 46.3 degree Celsius at Najafgarh, 45.7 degree Celsius at Ridge and 46.2 degree Celsius in Pitampura area, as per the IMD.  

Other parts of the country too sizzled under heatwave conditions as at least sixteen towns and cities recorded a maximum temperature at and above 45 degree Celsius. Nowgong in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district also recorded a maximum temperature of 47 degree Celsius. 

As per the Indian Meteorological Department, parts of Vidarbha, isolated pockets in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, west Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh also witnessed heatwave condition on Sunday. 

Uttar Pradesh's Banda and Ganganagar in Rajasthan recorded the highest temperature at 46.8 degree Celsius and 46.7 degree Celsius respectively. 

According to the weather department most parts of northwest India will be seeing no repsite from the harsh heatwave conditions for next four to five days. It further said that no significant change will be there in the temperatures over Central India for the next two days after which mercury was expected to slide down by two to three degrees.
