Voting begins for Bypolls to 4 Lok Sabha and 10 Assembly seats amid tight security

The voting for Bypolls on four Lok Sabha and ten assembly bypolls across the country is set to take place today, the results of which are likely to set the tone of the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
The voting began at 7am on Monday, amid very tight security.
The 4 Lok Sabha seats where the voting is taking place includes Bhandara Gondia and Palghar in Maharashtra, Nagaland and Kairana in UP.
The voting is also taking place on Karnataka Assembly’s Rajaji Nagar seat. The voting was stalled here when polls took place on other seats in the state on May 12 after the Election Commission found fake voter IDs from a residence. The Assembly seats where byelections are taking place include Jokihat seat from Bihar, Silli and Gomia from Jharkhand, Chengaroor seat in Kerala, Palus Kadegaon seat of Maharashtra, Ampati in Meghalaya, Shahkot seat in Punjab, Tharali seat in Uttarakhand, Noorpur seat in UP and Maheshtala seat in West Bengal.After a big defeat in Phulpur and Gorakhpur Bypolls in March, The elections are likely to be a little difficult for Bharatiya Janta Party in Kairana Lok Sabha seat, where the party is going to face a joint opposition.
The Kairana constituency fell vacant after the death of BJP parliamentarian Hukum Singh, whose daughter Mriganka Singh is the party’s candidate for the bypoll.
The results of the bypolls will be out on May 31.
