How Vikas Dubey Managed To Dodge Police For A Week Despite Massive Manhunt? Arrest Raises Several Questions

Several opposition leaders including Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Digvijay Singh have questioned the arrest of Dubey and have sought a clarification on whether it is was an arrest or a surrender.

New Delhi: Vikas Dubey, a name that gave the Uttar Pradesh administration a week of sleepless nights, the most-wanted gangster of Uttar Pradesh and a history-sheeter  who executed the appalling Kanpur shootout, was finally arrested by Madhya Pradesh police in the holy city of Ujjain. However, the arrest which unfolded in the most dramatic manner, with the gangster being whisked by police at temple portals, him echoing ‘Main Vikas Dubey Hoon, Kanpur Wala,’ in a villainous fashion, all in the presence of media, has raised several questions. Whether it was an arrest or a surrender? Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and some other political leaders have raised this question. Akhilesh said that the government must clarify whether it is an arrest or a surrender. “It is reported that the main culprit of the Kanpur case, is in police custody. If this is true then the government should clear whether it is surrender or arrest. Also make the CDR of his mobile public so that true collusion can be busted,” Akhilesh said in his tweet. It is being said that Dubey feared that he might meet the same fate as some of his aides who were killed in police encounter and so he decided to give his run a final stop, after dodging police for six days. Is Vikas Dubey being saved? Kamalakant Dubey, a relative of DSP Devendra Mishra, who lost his life in the gun-battle at Vikas Dubey’s residence in Bikru village, Kanpur, has alleged that the arrest of Dubey was staged and that there were higher powers involved in saving him. “He freely buys ticket for darshan in Mahakal temple despite police being on alert. Police reaches the spot along with media after being phoned by the security guard of the temple. Is this how an arrest is made?” he said. How did he reach Ujjain from Faridabad in a car with UP’s number plate without being stopped anywhere? Dubey was sighted a day before (on Wednesday) in Faridabad at OYO hotel in Badkhal Chowk. His other aides were arrested, but he managed to escape before his place of stay could be raided by police. Delhi-NCR cities were alerted about his escape and security was beefed up in the area. However, he managed to cross to MP even when neighboring states were put on high alert. Did Vikas Dubey cover hundreds of kilometres from Faridabad to Madhya Pradesh (reportedly via Kota) but managed to evade cops everywhere? How did he end up at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain? Did somebody facilitate his movement from Haryana to Madhya Pradesh? 5 henchmen of Dubey killed in encounter: It is pertinent to note that five close aides of the history-sheeter who were also co-accused in the barbaric killing of 8 policemen in Kanpur, have been killed by police in encounter, while they were trying to flee from captivity.
