WATCH: Pregnant Woman Saved by Indian Navy In Flood-Hit Kerala; Gives Birth To Baby Boy

Army, Navy, Air Force and NDRF personnel have begun rescuing people stranded in the worst affected areas of Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta and Thrissur districts of Kerala.

NEW DELHI: In flood-ravaged Kerala, the Indian Navy was involved a daring rescue operation in which a pregnant woman was airlifted by the Indian Navy by its Chetak crew. The video of the incident shows that a pregnant lady was rappelled to safety by the chopper after her water broke. Watch Video- The woman who was identified as Sajita Jabeel later in the day gave birth to a baby boy. The 25-year-old woman who was rescued by Navy from a flooded village in Kerala's Aluva. Army, Navy, Air Force and NDRF personnel have begun rescuing people stranded in the worst affected areas of Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta and Thrissur districts. The Indian Navy has deployed 51 boats along with diving teams, 1,000 life jackets and 1,300 gumboots are being rushed to Kerala today. It flew 16 sorties in last two days in rescue operations. It will airdrop 1,600 food packets today. The IAF deployed 23 helicopters and 11 transport aircraft. Some of the aircraft are being flown in from Yelahanka and Nagpur. In Kerala, 167 have died in rain-related incidents in Kerala. Over 25 trains were either cancelled or rescheduled in Kerala. Kochi Metro operations have not been affected so far. The operations at the Kochi International Airport will remain suspended till August 26, with runways being flooded.
