Keeping that in mind, the government has already launched a crackdown on illegal slaughter houses and the urban development department, that also governs the municipal corporations, which grant licenses to meat shops and slaughter houses and is also expected to ready a proposal to regulate the meat shops in the state. The excise department, meanwhile too, is readying a proposal to make changes in the excise act so that harsher penalties, including capital punishment, may be given to those who sell or manufacture illicit liquor.
