UP: Clashes in Kannauj jail after prisoner ‘exposes’ jail authorities

Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh: Massive ruckus took place in Kannauj jail on late Sunday evening when prisoners and jail authorities clashed, due to which two deputy jailors got severely injured.   Both the deputy jailors have been admitted to the hospital. The authorities could be seen hesitant about sharing the number of injured prisoners in the jail. It all started when jail authority started thrashing a prisoner named Vinod. On May 20, Vinod went for a hearing in Chief Jurisdictional Magistrate’s court, where he accused jail authorities of thrashing him and also flashed his scar in front of the media. UP: Clashes in Kannauj jail after prisoner ‘exposes’ jail authorities After media reports, the jail authorities were angry at Vinod, due to which a massive brawl took place between the authorities and prisoners in the jail; post which prisoners thrashed deputy jailor Ram Avtaar. Avtaar’s arm also got broken during the scuffle. On the other hand, another deputy jailor Surendra Mohan’s head faced serious injuries. A ruckus took place in the jail after an attack on both the prisoners. As per sources, the police also fired in the air in order to save the authorities. UP: Clashes in Kannauj jail after prisoner ‘exposes’ jail authorities As soon as the matter was reported, both SP and DM reached the jail along with a large police force, in order to bring the matter under control; which happened after a struggle of several hours. The matter is being investigated.
