Union Cabinet Approves 75 Lakh New LPG Connections Under Ujjwala Scheme, E-Court Phase 3 Project
The Union Cabinet has also passed a resolution to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on success of the G20 Summit that was held in New Delhi on September 9 and 10
New Delhi: The Centre on Wednesday approved a scheme for release of grant to support LPG connections to women under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Under this scheme, a total of 75 lakh LPG connections will be released over three years with total financial implication of Rs 1,650 crore.
"9.60 crore LPG cylinders have been distributed under the Ujjwala scheme till today and I am happy to announce that another 75 lakh free LPG connections will be given so that more poor and needful women can be benefit from the scheme" Union minister Anurag Thakur said while addressing the media after the cabinet meeting.
According to a report by news agency PTI, with the release of an additional 75 lakh LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme, the total number of beneficiaries under the central scheme will increase to 10.35 crores.
Notably, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by PM Modi in May 2016 to provide LPG connections to women of below poverty line families.
He also said that the government has also approved E-Courts project phase-III as central scheme with a financial outlay of Rs 7,210 crore to be implemented over four years.

As part of the National E-Governance Plan, the E-Courts Project is under implementation since 2007. The Phase II of the project concluded in 2023. “Phase III of the e-Courts Project, beginning 2023, in India is rooted in the philosophy of access and inclusion,” the minister said, as quoted by PTI.
The Union Cabinet has also passed a resolution to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on success of the G20 Summit that was held in New Delhi on September 9 and 10, Anurag Thakur said.
The Union Cabinet also approved foreign investment of up to Rs 9,589 crore in Suven Pharmaceuticals by Cyprus-based Berhyanda Ltd.
