Taking note of the demolition of Supertech's illegal twin towers, the Noida Police Thursday banned use of drones in city skies from August 26 to August 31 citing security reasons. The order came from Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Ram Badan Singh under CrPC Section 144 as he passed the ban order. “Emerald Court Twin Towers in Sector 93A of Noida are proposed to be demolished on August 28. It is necessary to ban drone operations in view of security,” the order noted, according to news agency PTI.

“Drones will not be operated by any private person or institution from August 26 to 31. Violation of this order will be an offense punishable under IPC Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by government officials),” it added.

Earlier police had declared that drones will be allowed but only beyond the “exclusion zone” of about 500 metre with their permission.

Also, note that no human, animal or vehicles would be allowed in the exclusion zone on August 28.

All About Demolition

The nearly 100-metre tall twin towers -- Apex and Ceyane -- will be razed to the ground at 2.30 pm on August 28 following a Supreme Court order. 

Taller than Delhi's Qutub Minar, it will become India's tallest structures to be safely demolished by implosion technique. On August 31 last year, the Supreme Court had ordered the demolition of the twin towers for violation of building norms.

The residents of two adjoining societies -- Emerald Court and ATS Village -- will be evacuated to carry out the twin tower demolition, which will be done through implosion by Edifice Engineering.

Over 5,000 residents will be evacuated on August 28 before the demolition. Residents need to vacate the premises by 7 am and will be allowed only after safety clearance post demolition by agencies concerned around 4 pm.

The 40-storey towers -- Apex and Ceyane -- are located in Noida's Sector 93A in Uttar Pradesh. The towers are near the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. There are over 900 flats in these two towers. The towers are part of Supertech's Emerald Court project. Both towers together cover an area of around 7.5 lakh square feet.
