Tokyo Olympics Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra Down With High Fever, Covid Report Negative

Neeraj Chopra underwent a COVID-19 RT-PCR test after coming down with fever and throat issues which returned negative, according to sources. 

New Delhi: Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who won a gold medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics, took a COVID-19 RT-PCR after high fever and sore throat, which has been reported negative, sources close to news agency ANI said.

As per the information available, Neeraj Chopra is currently resting after coming down with fever and sore throat. The good thing is that he tested negative for COVID-19. 

He underwent an RT-PCR test on the advice of doctors which has been reported negative. Due to fever and sore throat, he was unable to attend his felicitation by the Haryana government. A close aide of Neeraj told the news agency that the athlete is now recovering.

His body temperature was 103 degrees as of Friday, but his health has since improved. He tested negative for COVID-19. Doctors have advised them to rest. His busy schedule made him sick.

Neeraj made history by winning a gold medal in Javelin Throwing at the Tokyo Olympics. He won his first Ever Olympic Medal for India in Track and Field Athletics. India won 7 medals at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics with the best ever performance. He won 1 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals. After 41 years, the Indian men's hockey team created history by winning a bronze medal.

Many Indian athletes missed out on medals by a narrow margin at this Olympics. The next Olympics will now be held in the French capital of Paris in 2024.  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently thanked the Japanese government for conducting the Tokyo Olympics safely despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of athletes from 205 countries participated in the Olympics this time and displayed their talent magnificently.
