Thrissur ATM Heist: Tamil Nadu Police Shoot Dead Suspect After High-Speed Chase, Seize Rs 65 L & Weapons
The incident unfolded in Kumarapalayam, Namakkal district, where police seized the lorry and a car, suspecting the gang to be involved in a ATM heist in Thrissur.
In a high-stakes operation, Tamil Nadu police shot dead a man for his suspected involvement in Thrissur ATM heist and for failing to stop a container lorry near Namakkal on Friday. The vehicle was found to be carrying over Rs 60 lakh in cash and weapons.
The incident unfolded in Kumarapalayam, Namakkal district, where police seized the lorry and a car, suspecting the gang to be involved in a ATM heist in Thrissur. The police reported that one of the seven suspects inside the container lorry was killed during the confrontation. The police are now probing potential links between the suspects and ATM robbery that recently took place in Thrissur, Kerala.
On Friday, the vehicle came under police radar after it got involved in an accident with another vehicle. When the police tried to intercept the lorry, the gang refused to stop the vehicle and continued to overspeed it.
At that time when the police tried to stop the lorry, the men reportedly started to attack the police. In retaliation, the police allegedly shot at the gang in which one of the gang members died on Friday.
Following this, the police surrounded the vehicle and nabbed the suspects. According to preliminary investigation, the robbers are said to be from Haryana or Rajasthan. As a result, Kerala special forces police have rushed to Namakkal.
Thrissur SBI Robbery
A gang was involved in robbing three ATMs of State Bank of India on Friday. The gang robbed over Rs 65 lakhs in the ATMs located at Mapranam, Kolazhy and Shornur Road near Swaraj Round.
The robbery reportedly took place between 2:30 AM and 4 AM on Friday and the gang used gas cutter to break open the ATMs.
Following this, Thissur police alerted the police in Palakkad, Coimbatore and Salem where similar robbera ies were recently reported, as per report on Manorama.
