Video: 2 Terrorists Killed In Shootout In North Kashmir’s Sopore

An anti-terror operation is underway in Panipora Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir, where multiple militants are believed to be trapped.

Two terrorists have been killed in a shootout with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore. One of the downed terrorists is a Pakistani. The terrorists were trapped as security forces continued an anti-terror operation in the Panipora Sopore area of Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir. The anti-terror operation started on Thursday after militants launched an attack on security forces during a search op.

The terrorists are believed to be affiliated to Lashkar-e-Taiba or Jaish-e-Muhammad militants.

The development comes after two Village Defence Group (VDG) members, identified as Nazir Ahmad and Kuldip Kumar, were kidnapped and killed by terrorists in a forest area of Kishtwar. The bodies of the victims are yet to be recovered, and a massive search operation has been launched by security forces.

After the Panjipora Sopore attack, L-G Manoj Sinha said: "No words are strong enough to condemn the heinous terrorist attack on VDG members in Kishtwar. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of brave sons martyred in this cowardly attack. We are firmly resolved to destroy all terror outfits & avenge this barbaric act."
