Telangana Congress MLA Warns Allu Arjun Over Talking Against CM: 'Your Films Won't Run Here'
Telangana Congress MLA Bhoopathi Reddy from Nizamabad (Rural) cautioned that the films of actor Allu Arjun could face boycotts in Telangana if he continued his remarks.
In a direct attack at Allu Arjun, a Congress MLA took aim at the actor and warned him against making critical comments about Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Addressing a public meeting in Nyalkal village, Nizamabad district, on Tuesday, Telangana Congress MLA Bhoopathi Reddy from Nizamabad (Rural) cautioned that the films of the actor could face boycotts in Telangana if he continued his remarks.
The MLA pointing out that while the actor hails from Andhra Pradesh, he has chosen to reside in Telangana. The MLA questioned the contributions the actor has made to the local community. He said that if the actor does not mend his ways, they would ensure that his films do not run in the state.
"If you don't mend your ways, we will not let your films run in Telangana," he said, as per reports. The MLA also criticised Allu Arjun's blockbuster Pushpa, labelling it "a smuggler's story" that lacked societal benefit. He further highlighted Congress' historical support for the film industry and cited the previous governments contributions in providing land in Hyderabad to bolster its development.
While asserting that the Congress party is not against cinema, Bhoopathi Reddy criticised the actor’s actions and alleged that Allu Arjun disregarded police advice and visited Sandhya Theatre, the site of a recent stampede.
The MLA’s comments were reportedly in response to Allu Arjun denying allegations against him during a press conference.
On Tuesday, Telangana police reportedly quizzed actor Allu Arjun for over three hours in connection with Hyderabad stampede case. The police also questioned whether the actor was aware that permission was denied for his visit to the threatre for Pushpa 2 screening on December 4, as per a report on PTI. Actor Allu Arjun was questioned by a police team led by Central Zone DCP Akshansh Yadav at Chikkadpally police station.
