SSR Case: ‘Agenda Driven Campaign To Malign Us,’ Mumbai Top Cop Param Bir Singh To ABP News; 80K Fake Accounts Identified

Talking to ABP News, Param Bir Singh said that an agenda driven campaign was being run by few people with vested interests and in a certain section of media.

Sushant Singh Rajput case : After the AIIMS forensic report  ruled out the murder angle in the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh said that the probe of Mumbai police stands justified, meanwhile slamming the politics that was stewing over the case. The attempt was to malign Mumbai police at a time when the force was already busy battling a pandemic. As per sources, the ongoing CBI probe has also not found evidence related to murder of Sushant Singh Rajput. When asked about the allegations of hiding facts and not cooperating with Bihar police, Singh said that Bihar cops were not authorized to conduct a probe in the case. He said that even the SC had ruled that the ADR investigation of Mumbai police would continue, while directing a CBI probe in the case. He said many elements made attempt to demoralize the Mumbai Police and discredit them even when their investigation was fair. He informed that they had examined 56 witnesses in the case of which only 5 were related directly to the film industry. "The apex court found no faults with our investigation, all those who were challenging our investigation then, I challenge them to speak up about our findings. They were criticising it without knowledge, and were doing so with vested interests," he added. 80,000 accounts identified for spreading fake information identified: Meanwhile he said that the Mumbai police have identified over 80,000 social media accounts (trolls) that were created after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput spreading false information about his death, fake theories about murder and running a smear campaign against them and the government. The process of identification of such accounts are underway further. The cyber cell will most likely investigate the alleged fake accounts and register cases under the Information Technology Act. Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his residence on June 14, sparking off a huge political furore and triggering the biggest probe into the alleged Bollywood-drugs nexus, which led to the arrest of 20 persons, including actress Rhea Chakraborty.
