Stone Pelting At Nankana Sahib Gurdwara In Pakistan; Amarinder Singh Asks Imran Khan To Intervene
Taking cognizance on the matter, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has appealed to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to intervene in the matter and ensure safety of the devotees stranded in Gurdwara.
Islamabad [Pakistan]: An angry mob of Muslim residents in Nankana Sahib in Pakistan reportedly stormed the historic Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Sikh's first master Guru Nanak Dev on Friday evening. As per the initial reports, the group was led by the family of a boy who had allegedly abducted Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur, daughter of gurdwara's pathi. Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa shared the video which, he said, showed an angry Muslim mob shouting anti-Sikh slogans outside Nankana Sahib.
Taking cognizance on the matter, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has appealed to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to intervene in the matter and ensure safety of the devotees stranded in Gurdwara.
"Appeal to @ImranKhanPTI to immediately intervene to ensure that the devotees stranded in Gurdwara Nankana Sahib are rescued and the historic Gurdwara is saved from the angry mob surrounding it," he tweeted.
He also urged Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to take immediate action "on such communal incidents that are increasing the insecurity in the minds of Sikhs of Pakistan".
A video of the incident was shared by Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa, which shows an angry mob shouting anti-Sikh slogans outside the gurdwara. Reports suggest hundreds of angry Muslim residents of Nankana Sahib surrounded the gurdwara and pelted stones on Friday evening.

According to news agency ANI, Police have arrived at the scene of the incident to control people. However, no official statement has been issued by Government of Pakistan yet. The External Affairs Ministry said members of the minority Sikh community in Pakistan have been subjected to acts of violence at the holy city of Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji.
