Sonia Gandhi To Convene Opposition Meet On Migrants Issue Today; BSP, AAP Likely To Give A Skip
The leaders of different opposition parties will come together on a common platform through video-conferencing. A case was registered against Sonia Gandhi in Karnataka over her remarks on PM-CARES fund. The Congress on Thursday accused the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of indulging in vendetta politics.
New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi will convene a meeting of leaders of several opposition parties in the afternoon today to discuss the plight of the migrant workers amid the nationwide lockdown. However, the Bahujan Samaja Party and the Aam Aadmi Party have decided to give the meeting a skip, while Samajwadi Party’s decision remains unclear yet.
The leaders of different opposition parties will come together on a common platform through video-conferencing. This will be the first video conference meeting between of opposition parties during the nationwide lockdown.
As per reports, chances are that Shiv Sena and Trinamool Congress will take part in the discussion. Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has also confirmed his participation. NCP, RJD and National Conference are also likely to attend the meet.
As per PTI report, Sonia Gandhi personally called the opposition leaders and sought their cooperation in chalking out a joint strategy to address the issue of the stranded migrants.
Migrant labourers in different states have started their journey towards their home states on foot, bicycles and trucks, after they were rendered jobless in the lockdown.
Meanwhile, a case was registered against Sonia Gandhi in Karnataka over her remarks on PM-CARES fund. The Congress on Thursday accused the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of indulging in vendetta politics.
