'Don't Know What Balasaheb...': BJP Slams Udhhav's 'Godhra-Like Situation' Remark On Ram Temple

The row erupted after Uddhav Thackeray on Monday in a direct attack on the BJP stated that a Godhra-like crisis may arise following the Ram temple's opening.

Amidst row over Shiv Sena's (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray's "Godra-like situation remark," Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Monday slammed Thackeray stating that some people have forgotten their party ideology for the greed of the power, news agency PTI reported. "I don't know what Balasaheb (late Shiv Sena founder and Uddhav Thackeray's father) would have thought today and what Uddhav ji is doing today for the greed of power. Rahul ji and Uddhav ji did not say a word when so many things were said about Sanatan Dharma," Thakur stated.

On Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray's remarks on Ram Mandir, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad stated: "All I would like to say is that this entire alliance, that is against PM Modi, can go to any limit for votes...I would like to pray to Lord Ram to give them some wisdom. This is a shameful and indecent remark. We condemn this."

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders remarks came amid a political row after former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday in a direct attack on the BJP stated that a Godhra-like crisis may arise following the Ram temple's opening. "It is a possibility that the government could invite a large number of people for the Ram Temple inauguration in buses and trucks, and on their return journey, an incident similar to that in Godhra may occur," Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray stated.

In 2002, 59 karsevaks were murdered when a Sabarmati Express train caught fire. The Godhra train burning case sparked a huge riot in Gujarat that lasted for months.

According to speculation, the Ram Temple would be opened in January 2024, just before the Lok Sabha election. PM Modi's inauguration is expected to take place between January 21 and January 24.

The row erupts at a time when BJP leaders have gone to great lengths to corner INDIA leaders over Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks on Sanatan Dharma. Anurag Thakur also criticised Uddhav Thackeray and Rahul Gandhi for being silent in the face of Udhayanidhi's declaration that Sanatan Dharma is like dengue and malaria and must be exterminated. INDIA parties were divided about whether to back Udhayanidhi's comments in the Sanatan controversy. Uddhav's party head, Sanjay Raut, did not support Udhayanidhi's comments, but Uddhav has remained silent on the matter.
