Sharad Pawar's Logic Can Be Understood But...: Tharoor Explains Why Oppn Is Demanding JPC On Adani Row
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor opined on Sharad Pawar's statement about the demand for a JPC probe into Adani row and explained why the Opposition is demanding it even as over 50% members will be from NDA.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor shared his views on Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar's statement about the opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe on the Adani issue. Several leaders have shared their reactions to the former Maharashtra chief minister saying that he does not support the call for a JPC investigation on claims by US-based short seller Hindenburg Research.
"His (Sharad Pawar) logic can be understood because the rule of JPC is, the ruling party will be part of it and more than 50 per cent of members in JPC will be from NDA only. But still, the Opposition can ask questions and seek answers and evidence through JPC. We will be able to seek files and documents which is why our people are demanding JPC. The NCP stood with us in the Parliament and during our protest march to Vijay Chowk," Shashi Tharoor told news agency ANI.

Last week on Saturday, Sharad Pawar said that "Nowadays names of Ambani-Adani are being taken (to criticise the government) but we need to think about their contribution to the country. I think other issues like unemployment, price rise, and farmers issues are more important."
Talking about the meeting of the opposition parties, Pawar said, "We had a joint meeting of all the opposition parties and we discussed all the issues there. There were some issues on which we did not agree but everyone put forth their views in the meeting."

Sharad Pawar's Stance On JPC Probe In Adani Row
Earlier on Friday, Pawar stated that he did not share the views of his ally Congress on the call for a JPC on claims against the Adani Group.
The NCP president spoke up vehemently in defence of the Adani Group and slammed the rhetoric around Hindenburg's report on the conglomerate in an exclusive conversation with NDTV.
"Out of proportion importance was given to the issue. The issues that were kept, who kept them? We had never heard of these people (Hindenburg) who gave the statement, what is the background? When they raise issues that cause a ruckus across the country, the cost is borne by the country's economy, we cannot disregard these things. It seems this was targeted," Pawar said, as quoted by NDTV in its report.
