Schools Reopening From Monday? A Look At What Different States Have Decided
After the Ministry of Home, Affairs has allowed schools to reopen, many states have taken the decision to begin classes while some have decided to keep it closed due to rising Covid 19. Know what different states are planning.
New Delhi: With the start of Unlock 4, the Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed schools to reopen. From Monday i.e. September 21st 2020, many schools across the country will open their schools for high school students. Though it is not mandatory many states have decided on reopening schools while some have continued to keep it closed for another month.

Delhi: The national capital has decided against opening school and plans to keep it closed until October 5, 2020. Online classes, however, will continue as per schedule.
Assam: The state is going to open schools for grades 9th to 12th for 15 days, after which they will review the situation and evaluate according to the Hindustan Times report.
Himachal Pradesh: The state government has decided to reopen schools from Classes 9 to 12 from Monday only outside containment zones said a report by HT.
Jharkhand: The state government will keep in mind the guidelines of the Home Ministry and will first allow students of classes 10 and 12 to get back to schools. The state education minister Vaidyanath Mahato says that students' education is suffering. He revealed, "We have come to know from a survey that only 27 percent of students in urban areas are able to access online class. This figure is even worse in rural areas. Some children do not even have a mobile connection".
Uttar Pradesh: Schools and other education institutions are likely to remain shut this month due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases. Earlier the UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma has said that the Covid-19 situation in the state will be monitored until September 15 and only then the state will decide whether schools will be opened or not. Classes will continue to be conducted through Doordarshan UP for Class 10 and 12, and Swayambha channel for Class 9 and 11. The timetable of the class is fixed every week. E-learning is being undertaken for Classes up to the 8th standard through WhatsApp groups or other such means.
Karnataka: Karnataka government which has allowed schools and Pre-University colleges in the state to open from September 21. However, they are not allowed to resume regular classes but students can come only to clear the queries they have related to their studies, as directed by Unlock 4 guidelines. Karnataka Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar said on Friday that the government was awaiting the Centre's approval for resuming regular classes. "From September 21, teachers of Class 9, Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12, will be present in the school to clear the doubts of the students related to their studies. It will not be like regular classes," Kumar told media person.
Andhra Pradesh: 50 percent teaching and 50 percent non-teaching staff can be called in the school. Any student from class 9 to 12 can visit and study in school after the written permission of their parents.
Delhi and Haryana: have decided to keep schools shut; Delhi schools will not open until October 5. Earlier it was decided to open for senior class students so that they can go visit teacher to clear their doubts, but that’s no longer the case. In Karnal and Sonepat, some government schools have open in trial basis. Students had were grouped using colour codes to make social distancing easier.
Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh: Both states are not in favor of opening schools. Chhattisgarh, at present, is also not thinking it either and has been emphasising on having online classes.
