SP-Congress don't give 'uttar' in Uttar Pradesh: Modi in Ghaziabad rally

GHAZIABAD: Launching an offensive against Samajwadi Party and Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the alliance doesn't give 'Uttar' (answers) to the problems faced by the people of Uttar Pradesh. Addressing an election rally in Ghaziabad Modi said, "Ye log Uttar Pradesh me bhi 'uttar' nahi dete," (SP-Congress don't even answer people in Uttar Pradesh). Attacking Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Modi said the SP government has failed the state and its people in last five years. "When Akhilesh Yadav became the Chief Minister, we thought he, being a youth icon, will work for the welfare of the state but his government has failed on all platforms," Modi said. In his address, Modi spoke at length about corruption, law and order and nepotism allegedly prevailing in the state as he sought people's vote for BJP to change the state's fate. He said Utar Pradesh can become 'Uttam Pradesh' if a fair government comes to power. Slamming the state government for "doing nothing" to develop the state, Modi said Akhilesh was desperately seeking whatever support is coming his way to retain power. "UP Chief Minister is grabbing whatever support he gets as he fears of being washed out," he said. Playing pro-farmers card, a plank BJP has assiduously tried to claim for some time, Modi said the situation of farmers during SP rule has worsened in UP, which will go to the polls in seven phases from February 11 to March 8 .
