Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Indian Embassy In Kyiv Advises Students To Pass Through These Polish Borders

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), so far around 20,000 Indians have left Ukraine's borders since India issued its first travel advisories in mid-February.

New Delhi: As Russia continues to step up the attack in Ukraine after failing to seize control of any major Ukrainian city even after nine days of the war, Indian Embassy in Ukraine has asked its nationals to travel to Polish borders of Budomeirz and Shehyni-Medyka.

In a fresh advisory to Indians stranded in Ukraine, the Indian Embassy said that a team has visited Polish borders of Budomeirz and Shehyni-Medyka and smooth movements at these points have been facilitated.

It has also advised students to pass through these borders during the day to avoid waiting at these points at night.

"Embassy team visited Polish borders of Budomeirz and Shehyni-Medyka. Smooth movements at these points have been facilitated. Students are advised to pass through these borders during the day to avoid waiting at these points at night," the Indian Embassy in Ukraine tweeted.

The Embassy also stated that in case of any medical emergency nearby border guards may be contacted immediately. Ambulances are ready at all these checkpoints to help citizens.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), so far around 20,000 Indians have left Ukraine's borders since India issued its first travel advisories in mid-February.

Additionally, 15 flights landed in India as part of the evacuation mission during the last 24 hours, bringing back more than 3,000 nationals. 16 more flights are scheduled for the next 24 hours to bring back the Indians from Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland.

Over 10,300 Indians have been brought back in 48 flights under India's evacuation mission 'Operation Ganga' so far. During a press conference, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi also said that India will continue with the operation till the last citizen is not taken out of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, India has also sought a ceasefire by Russian and Ukrainian troops in eastern Ukraine for safe evacuation of Indian citizens stuck in conflict zones and said it is yet to see the implementation of the decision by the two sides to create safe corridors for the exit of the civilians.

Bagchi also informed that around 300 Indians are still stranded in Kharkiv and 700 are in Sumy while some citizens out of over 900 are being taken out of Pisochyn in five buses.
