RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale Advocates Changing Official Name To ‘Bharat’: ‘Should Be Called Only…’
RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said that the country should be referred to as Bharat, as it is its official name. He questioned the usage of two names for the country and said that it should be rectified.

RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said on Tuesday that if the name of the country is Bharat, it should be referred to as such. Hosabale, speaking during an event in Delhi, referred to the G20 dinner that addressed the President as the “President of Bharat”, which led to massive speculation about the intention of the government to change the country’s name from India to Bharat.
"In recent days, the government's G20 invitation, invitation for a banquet at the presidential residence, was written in English as 'Bharat' because the name of Bharat should be called India in English and Bharat in the Indian language," Hosabale said as quoted by news agency ANI.
The RSS leader raised the question regarding the usage of two names for the country, and this matter should be rectified.
"It is the 'Constitution of India', 'Reserve Bank of India'. Why is it like this? Such a question should be raised. It should be rectified. If the country's name is Bharat, it should only be called that way," Hosabale further added.
The row over India vs Bharat started after the opposition parties, which have decided to join hands against the BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, decided to name their group as INDIA.
