Republic Day 2023: Putin To Dalai Lama — World Leaders Extend Greetings To India
Several leaders congratulated Indian on Republic Day. Russian President Putin wished India on Republic Day and lauded India for its achievements in economic, social and several other spheres.
New Delhi: World leaders extended warm wishes to India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the nation celebrates its 74th Republic Day. Several leaders took to their respective Twitter handle to congratulate Indians on this occasion. Russian President Vladimir Putin wished India on Republic Day and lauded India for its achievements in economic, social and several other spheres.

Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, took to his Twitter account to wish Indians on Indian Republic Day. “Sending best wishes to narendramodi and the people of India on Indian Republic Day. As we share national days, we celebrate the warm spirit of affection our people have long held for each other and the depth of our friendship. Australia and India have never been closer,” Albanese wrote.

The President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, also extended warm wishes to India. “Warm greetings from Maldives to PM @narendramodi, government and people of India on their 74th Republic Day. May the the spirit of democracy, justice and peace long prevail in India,” Ibrahim Mohamed Solih wrote on Twitter.

President Droupadi Murmu commenced the celebrations of the 74th Republic Day, for the first time since assuming office last year, by unfurling the national flag at Kartavya Path on Thursday. Keeping with traditon the unfurling of the Tricolour was followed by the national anthem and a customary 21 Gun Salute. Notably, it was for the first time that the 21 Gun Salute was given with 105 mm Indian Field Guns. It replaced the vintage 25-pounder gun. President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is the Chief Guest at this year's parade.
PM Modi paid floral tributes to fallen heroes at the National War Memorial on the occasion of the 74th Republic Day celebrations. He led the nation in paying solemn tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath. The Republic Day celebrations commenced with the homage ceremony at the National War Memorial.
