Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday said that the Congress President keeps on changing his stance on Hindu appearance for political purposes and even termed him as ‘Confused Gandhi’.

New Delhi: Coming down heavily at Rahul Gandhi’s remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his understand of Hindutva, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday said that the Congress President keeps on changing his stance on Hindu appearance for political purposes and even termed him as ‘Confused Gandhi’. “Rahul Gandhi's problem is, he is the confused Gandhi and he keeps on changing his Hindu appearances for political purposes, not by way of commitment. He is not a Hindu by commitment, but a Hindu by political consideration. His Hindu faith changes with political expediency,” the IT minister said while speaking to news agency ANI. Soon after Gandhi questioned PM Modi over his religious understanding several leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) started criticising him for showing disrespect to the PM of the country. Addressing a press conference earlier today, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also launched a blistering attack on Gandhi. “Rahul Gandhi said PM doesn't know meaning of being a Hindu. He said that because he and Congress are confused about his religion& caste. For yrs, party presented him as secular leader but near polls when they realised that Hindus are in majority, they created this image,” ANI quoted Swaraj as saying. Swaraj also said that Gandhi has a dilemma regarding religion and caste, adding that the Congress presented him as secular leader but near polls when they realised that Hindus are in majority, they created this image “Congress claimed that Rahul Gandhi is a janeu-dhari Hindu, but I did not know he is so rich in knowledge that now they will teach us the the essence of Hinduism,” she added. BJP leaders started attack the AICC President after Gandhi early in the day questioned PM Modi’s understanding of Hinduism, asking “what is the essence of Hinduism? What does the Gita say? That knowledge is with everybody, knowledge is all around you. Every living being has knowledge. Our PM says he is a Hindu but he doesn't understand the foundation of Hinduism.” Gandhi said this while he was interacting with professionals in Rajasthan’s Udaipur as part of the Congress's election campaign. He came out all guns blazing at the ruling BJP and said that during the Manmohan Singh government, the Army had conducted similar surgical strike thrice but the action was not used for political gains.
