'True Embodiment Of Courage': PM Modi Pays Tribute To Rani Lakshmibai On Her Birth Anniversary

PM Modi paid tribute to Rani Lakshmibai on her birth anniversary who was the leading figure of the Indian Rebellion of 1857.

Rani Laxmibai, popularly known as Queen of Jhansi, played an important role during India's first war of independence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a tribute to the Rani of Jhansi, Lakshmibai Newalkar, on her birth anniversary on Tuesday. He said that the Lakshmibai was “a true embodiment of courage and patriotism” in a post on X.

“Tributes to the fearless Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, a true embodiment of courage and patriotism, on her Jayanti. Her bravery and efforts in the fight for freedom continues to inspire generations. Her leadership during times of adversity showed what true determination is”, he wrote. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid homage to Rani Lakshmibai he said, “only challenged the British rule but also showcased the power of Indian women on the world stage.”

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in an X post said, that the “warrior queen” was an “epitome of unmatched heroism and valour.”

Tribute to the great warrior queen, Rani of Jhansi, Laxmibai ji on her birth anniversary, who fought against the British rule with her indomitable courage and bravery in the First Indian War of Independence of 1857. She was an epitome of unmatched heroism and valour. The dedication, generosity, patriotism and sacrifice of such great personalities are inspiring.

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh called her an “immortal warrior” in an X post.  

महारानी लक्ष्मीबाई भारत के प्रथम स्वाधीनता संग्राम की वह अमर सेनानी हैं जिनकी वीरता और बलिदान की कहानियाँ पूरे देश में सुनी और सुनायी जाती हैं।आज उनकी जयंती पर मैं उन्हें स्मरण एवं नमन करता हूँ। यह देश उनके संघर्ष, प्रयासों और आज़ादी की लड़ाई में उनके योगदान को कभी नहीं भूलेगा।

“Maharani Lakshmibai is the immortal warrior of India's first freedom struggle whose stories of valor and sacrifice are heard and told all over the country. Today on her birth anniversary, I remember and salute her. This country will never forget her struggle, efforts and contribution in the fight for freedom”, he wrote.

Rani Lakshmibai, popularly known as Queen of Jhansi, played an important role during India's first war of independence (1857-58). She was one of the leading figures of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, and was born on November 19, 1828. Rani Laxmibai died fighting British colonial rulers near Gwalior in a place known as Kotah-ki-Serai in 1858.
