Rahul Gandhi Waves Tricolour As He Meets Army Veterans In Leh Market, Locals Cheer. WATCH

Rahul Gandhi interacted with Army Veterans in Ladakh's Leh main market and waved the national flag with them. A huge crowd arrived at the market to meet the Wayanad MP.

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi, who is on a visit to Union Territory Ladakh, reached Leh's main market on Monday. Gandhi met Army veterans and was seen waving the tricolour from a restaurant as hundreds of supporters gathered to get a glimpse of the Congress leader.

The crowd roared loudly as Gandhi came out of the building. Earlier in the day, the Congress MP was seen interacting with people in the market. He embarked on a bike ride to Pangong Tso in Ladakh on Saturday.

Gandhi waved at the people who swarmed the streets to see the Wayanad MP. His interaction with the Army veterans came days after he took a jibe at the Centre by saying that its claim that not an inch of Indian land was taken by China's People Liberation Army (PLA) troops 'is not true'. According to him, the locals too agreed that Indian territory was breached and taken by the Chinese troops, reported ANI.

Earlier on Sunday he paid tribute to his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of his 79th birth anniversary at the banks of Pangong Lake in Ladakh. After paying floral tributes to his father, he interacted with the media and said, "The locals here are concerned about China taking our land. They have said that the Chinese troops took away their grazing land. However, the PM says not an inch of land was taken away. This is not true, you can ask anyone here," ANI reported.

The Congress leader embarked on a bike ride to Pangong Lake in Ladakh on Saturday. He arrived in Leh on Thursday for his two-day visit. He later extended his tour till August 25.

The Congress leader is on his first visit to Ladakh since Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union territories- Ladakh and J&K.
