“The Cabinet has passed the proposal of providing a total of 25,000 government jobs, including 10,000 vacancies in the Punjab Police department and 15,000 vacancies in other government departments,” Mann was quoted as saying after the meeting.

Providing jobs to the unemployed youth was among many poll promises made by AAP during the election campaign that led it to beat Congress and BJP in the state assembly polls.
Other poll promises made by AAP were to improve the condition of government schools and hospitals. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal had also promised free electricity up to 300 units and Rs 1,000 to be transferred directly to accounts of women above 18 years of age.
AAP also promised to control the drug menace in the state. It registered a historic win in Punjab with 92 seats out of 117.
