Pulwama aftermath: Afraid of action by India, Pakistan asks civilians to vacate houses along LoC

India had earlier vowed to isolate Pakistan diplomatically and strategically on International platforms and also scrapped the Indus Water Treaty.

New Delhi: Petrified of India’s tough stance post the deadly Pulwama attack by Pakistan bred Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists, which gunned down 40 Indian soldiers, Pakistan PM Imran Khan has asked its people who reside in villages along the Line of Control to stay alerted. The people have been asked to stay in underground bunkers, which could protect them from shelling or any form of attacks which could come from the other side of the border. India scraps Indus water treaty: India had earlier vowed to isolate Pakistan diplomatically and strategically on International platforms and also scrapped the Indus Water Treaty. “India has decided to stop the flow of its share of water to Pakistan from rivers under the Indus Water Treaty” Union minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday. An official later clarified that it was not a "new decision" and that the Water Resources minister was "simply reiterating" what he has always said. "Under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Sri @narendramodi ji, Our Govt. has decided to stop our share of water which used to flow to Pakistan. We will divert water from Eastern rivers and supply it to our people in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab," Gadkari tweeted. Pulwama aftermath: Afraid of action by India, Pakistan asks civilians to vacate houses along LoC Local residents remove things from a bunker in the border town of Chakothi in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, some 3 km from Line of Control (LoC) /AFP Custom duty hiked to 200 pc on all goods imported from Pak: Earlier India raised the customs duty to 200 per cent on all goods imported from the neighbouring country, including fresh fruits, cement, petroleum products and mineral ore. The decision is set to significantly hit Pakistan's exports to India, which stood at USD 488.5 million (around Rs 3,482.3 crore) in 2017-18 as it would drastically increase the prices of its goods here. "India has withdrawn MFN (most favoured nation) status to Pakistan after the Pulwama incident. Upon withdrawal, basic customs duty on all goods exported from Pakistan to India has been raised to 200 per cent with immediate effect," Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in a tweet. Pakistan authorizes Army to respond decisively: In a key meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Council, chaired by the country’s Prime Minister Imran Khan, he authorised the military to respond “decisively” to any Indian misadventure. The meeting was called to discuss the security situation as the country faced worldwide flak for supporting JeM which carried out the deadly attack. The body issued a statement after the meeting saying that the country was "not involved in any way" in the Pulwama "incident", which was "conceived, planned and executed indigenously".
