Priyanka Slams Centre Over Wayanad Landslide Response, Demands Unified Action: 'Don't Need Excuses'
According to the Centre, despite assurances from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Kerala government failed to submit an assessment memorandum three and a half months after the tragedy.

Two days after Kerala delegation led by Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to expedite the relief package for landslide-affected people in Wayanad, she posted on X highlighting the Centre's response. The reply blamed the Kerala government for delays in submitting the necessary memorandum to secure relief.
According to the Centre, despite assurances from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Kerala government failed to submit an assessment memorandum three and a half months after the tragedy. This delay has reportedly hindered the relief process for victims.
Taking to X, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, "Disasters should not be about politics. Efforts to support the victims of such disasters must prioritise humanity and compassion. The people of Wayanad are looking towards the State and Central Governments with hope, they don’t need excuses, they need urgent help to be able to rebuild their lives with dignity."
"India stands strongest when every level of government works together to heal wounds and rebuild lives. The Centre and State must step up and fulfill its responsibility to the people of Wayanad," she said.

The landslide in Wayanad resulted in the loss of 231 lives, with 47 people still missing. The disaster left 145 houses fully destroyed, 170 partially damaged, 240 homes declared uninhabitable, and 183 washed away.
Meanwhile, the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Kerala government continues to accuse the Centre of partiality, alleging that states with less severe disasters have received financial support faster. The Kerala government claims the Centre has consistently shown "step-brotherly" treatment towards the state, compounding the suffering of Wayanad’s residents.
