According to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the country's first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad often liked to travel by rail. Soon after becoming the President, he also visited his birthplace Ziradei in Siwan district in the middle of his Bihar tour. He travelled by train from Chhapra to Ziradei by special Presidential train and stayed there for 3 days. During his Presidential term, he often planned train journeys across the country. After Dr Rajendra Prasad, various Presidents had preferred rail travel to facilitate stronger bonds and connection with the public.
