Indo-China Border Dispute: The Indian Army has released a statement saying the Chinese troops were engaged in 'provocative' movements but their attempts were thwarted with pre-emptive measures.
New Delhi: Tensions between India and China have escalated once again after the latter’s attempt in changing the status quo in Pangong lake in eastern Ladakh. The Indian Army had informed that the Chinese troops engaged in 'provocative military movements' along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Chushul sector, Ladakh. Both sides have now started talks again and are engaged in the third round of talks today. Top military and security brass have also reviewed the entire situation in eastern Ladakh.
The Indian Army has also issued a statement saying ‘that on the intervening night of August 29 and August 30, 2020, PLA troops violated the previous consensus agreed in military and diplomatic engagements during the ongoing standoff in eastern Ladakh and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo.'
"Indian troops pre-empted this PLA activity on the southern bank of Pangong lake, and undertook measures to strengthen our positions and thwart Chinese intentions to unilaterally change facts on the ground," the force said in the report.

The Indian Army has yet to provide details on what really happened that night and it is also not clear what China’s provocations were. But the army has stated that although they are committed to maintaining peace through dialogue, they are equally determined to protect India's territorial integrity.
After the incident, the Indian Army has reportedly pepped up its presence on a number of locations and increased the troops and weapons at key points around the Ladakh Line of Actual Control.
Surveillance mechanisms in all areas have also been tightened. Ever since the Indian and Chinese troops clashed at the Galwan Valley, India has increased vigilance in its border with China.
